Age in years, months, and days accounts for varying month lengths and leap years — it is not simply dividing total days by 365. The date difference mode works the same way in either direction, so it handles both past and future dates correctly.
The calculator compares calendar dates directly — year, month, and day — rather than dividing total elapsed days by 365.25. This correctly accounts for months of different lengths and leap years, so it matches what a calendar would tell you rather than an average-based approximation that can drift by a day or two.
In Date difference mode, you can enter the two dates in either order — if the end date is earlier than the start date, the calculator swaps them automatically and shows a note explaining it did so. The years/months/days breakdown works identically to Age mode, just between your two chosen dates instead of a birth date and today.
Age mode looks up notable people who share your exact birth date, the same calendar day and month in other years, and the same birth year, ranked by recent Wikipedia page views. This uses Wikipedia's public "on this day" and page-view APIs directly from your browser — no data about your date of birth is sent to Simplicalcs' own servers, and results are cached in your browser for the rest of your visit to avoid repeat lookups.
Ages and date differences are calculated in whole calendar days — time zones and daylight saving changes aren't modelled, so results within a few hours of midnight could differ by a day depending on where you are. The famous-birthdays feature depends on Wikipedia's data and coverage, which is more complete for well-documented public figures than for lesser-known ones.
