The odds of winning the UK Lotto jackpot are 1 in 45 million β but buying more tickets each week or playing for longer compounds your chances over time, even if the cumulative probability remains small. This calculator shows your realistic lifetime odds across the UK's main lotteries, EuroMillions, Powerball, and Mega Millions, alongside what you'd spend over the same period.
Each extra ticket you buy in a single draw adds one more independent shot at the jackpot, so your odds for that draw improve in direct proportion to how many tickets you hold β but because the starting odds are so astronomically long (1 in tens or hundreds of millions), even doubling or tripling your tickets each week leaves your overall chance still vanishingly small. Buying 10 tickets a week for 10 years is meaningfully more entries than buying 1, but it's still a tiny fraction of the total number of possible combinations.
The calculator treats each individual ticket entry as an independent trial with a fixed probability of winning (1 in the jackpot odds for that lottery). Over N total entries (tickets per week Γ 52 weeks Γ years of play), the chance of winning at least once is 1 β (1 β p)N, where p is the probability of a single entry winning. This correctly accounts for the fact that playing repeatedly doesn't simply multiply your odds β it compounds them, but from a starting point close to zero.
Unlike the UK Lotto's fixed prize tiers, EuroMillions splits a shared prize pool among winners at each tier, so the exact amount paid out varies draw to draw β the figures shown are typical averages, not guaranteed amounts. Mega Millions applies a randomly assigned multiplier (2Γβ10Γ) to every non-jackpot prize, included in the ticket price since the April 2025 price change to $5.
Jackpot odds, prize amounts, and ticket prices are current published figures for each lottery and can change β always check the official lottery operator's site for the exact numbers before making a purchasing decision. This tool is for illustration only: it does not account for jackpot rollovers changing the prize amount, syndicate play, or tax treatment of winnings in your country. Lottery odds are fixed per draw and do not improve with regular play β see the note below the tool.
